I am a sap for good, romantic music. Irwin Winkler's Cole Porter biopic, De-Lovely, with Kevin Kline as the one of the greatest American composers, made me cry.

It's about two souls "groping for each other's loneliness" (yes, I swiped that from a Danton Remoto poem), with great music from beginning to end. Roger Ebert has this to say:

The movie contains more music than most musicals, yet is not a concert film because the songs seem to rise so naturally out of the material and illuminate it. We're reminded how exhilarating the classic American songbook is, and how inarticulate so much modern music sounds by contrast.

And in many ways, I do agree. Conrado de Quiros does, too.
