Lito Lapid to speak only in Filipino even in Senate. And all for the wrong reasons. This is supposed to make him appealing to a voter like me? Why am I starting to believe that Philippine politics is the ultimate refuge for goddamn academic underachievers?

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer:

The son of a laundrywoman, senatorial candidate Lito Lapid vows to speak Filipino even if he's giving speeches in the Senate.

He also promises to provide quality education to the poor.

Asking Inquirer Entertainment to speak to him in Filipino, Lapid, 48, also requested this writer to repeat some of the questions.

"Ang hirap naman ng mga tanong!" he commented at one point during the exclusive interview with Inquirer Entertainment Tuesday.

I tell you, after May 10.... {Shakes head and pours one giant shot of vodka.}
