entry arrow11:26 AM | Just Above Road Rage

I stumbled on this comment by a certain Liz in film critic Roger Ebert's new blog, where he commiserates in one post how some careless (and all-too reactionary) readers do not seem to comprehend well the written word. Liz writes: "I admire your open-mindedness, but given the constraints on your time I'm surprised you would have any interest in wading through the blind hate and idiocy that comprise most Internet comments. It's the lowest form of discourse, just above road rage."

I had to laugh, because the comment had more than a ring of truth -- it defines precisely the nature of the medium, and gives us a reason to take all that hate with a grain of salt.

And that it comes in the form of an Internet comment is itself so precious. How meta!
