Here they go again, these seers. They're all over. On TV hawking predictions and Chinese good luck wares. On print. On websites. Like this one, from MSN:



More calamities -- including landslides, flash floods and earthquakes -- will inflict massive deaths this year. And famine, political intrigues and power play, labor disputes, disease and tragedy will continue to haunt the Philippines in 2005, the Year of the Rooster.



These and more tragic events -- including deaths in showbiz, in the Cabinet and Congress -- will hog the headlines in the coming year, according to psychic Jojo Acuin, dubbed as Asia's Nostradamus.


Predictions which are not exactly a far stretch for any given year for poor, perpetually beleaguered Philippines.



I remember last year, both my Western and Chinese horoscopes predicted a very, very good year. Eh? Eh? Eh? Poppy-cock!
